A Four-Month Virtual Somatic Trauma Healing Group
What if healing trauma wasn't just about talking it through, but feeling it through?
Welcome to HOME || BODY, a virtual somatic trauma healing group where we trade the therapy couch for something a little more... embodied.
Here's the thing about trauma: it doesn't just live in our memories or thoughts. It lives in our shoulders, our jaw, our breath, our gut, our nervous system. Traditional talk therapy is great, but sometimes our bodies need their own language to process what we've been through. That's where somatic therapy comes in.
In this 4-month virtual group, we'll explore body-based trauma healing through the lens of nature's four elements: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. Each month builds on the last, teaching you practical skills to regulate your nervous system, process difficult emotions, and reclaim a sense of safety in your own skin. No yoga mat required, no previous experience needed—just a willingness to get curious about what your body has been trying to tell you all along.
Let nature teach you what your body already knows…
In this group container, we will learn somatic (body-based) trauma healing skills based on the elements of nature: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire.
Included in the group is two monthly live group sessions via Google Meet. The first session of the month focuses on somatic skill building while the second session focuses on trauma processing as a group. See below for the Spring 2026 schedule:
March 12 & 26, 2026
April 9 & 23, 2026
May 14 & 28, 2026
June 11 & 25, 2026
All group sessions will take place 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Connection with others who understand the journey and won't judge your process
Practical ways to work with difficult emotions like anxiety, anger, shame, and grief
Confidence in your body's wisdom and its ability to heal
WHAT TO EXPECT…
-
In January, we will focus on GROUNDING, leaning into the stability of the Earth and our ability to connect with it in every moment. We will get curious about the question: What does safety feel like in my body?
Somatic skills to learn: resourcing, grounding, orienting, and somatic awareness
-
Our February sessions will teach us to be like water. That is to FLOW and allow sensations as they come and go. The skills taught in this session will make space for moving through difficult emotions and uncomfortable sensations with more ease and safety.
Somatic skills to learn: titration, pendulation, and intentional movement
-
March is all about the element of air and how we experience it in our bodies through BREATH. We will spend time exploring the natural breath, trying out another way of breathing, and expanding our vocabulary for talking about body sensations.
Somatic skills to learn: conscious breathing, voo sound, and somatic language expansion
-
When we think of fire, we often think of warmth, or perhaps burning. Fire also owns the space its given, whether that space is a candle, a bonfire, or a wildfire. April’s sessions will focus on taking OWNERSHIP of our own body. The group will close with acts of triumph, or thanking our bodies for the ways they have protected us throughout our lives.
Somatic skills to learn: somatic boundary expression, saying ‘no’, and acts of triumph.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Absolutely! Many group members are also working with individual therapists. In fact, somatic work often complements talk therapy beautifully. If you're currently working with a therapist, we encourage you to let them know you're joining the group. Optional individual sessions with Kat are also available if you want support integrating what you're learning.
-
While we encourage camera-on participation to build group connection and allow Kat to support you visually, we understand some people need the option to turn cameras off occasionally. We'll discuss group agreements during our first session to find what works best for everyone while maintaining the container's intimacy.
-
Life happens! While we ask for commitment to the full 4 months to maintain group cohesion, we understand occasional absences. Sessions aren't recorded (to protect everyone's privacy and confidentiality), but Kat can provide brief written summaries of skills covered if you miss a session. If you know you'll miss multiple sessions, let's chat about whether the timing is right.
-
Unfortunately, no. Because Kat is licensed in Michigan, all group participants must be Michigan residents for the duration of the group. If you're temporarily out of state during a session, please let Kat know in advance.
-
Just a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable and won't be interrupted, a device with internet connection for Google Meet, and optionally a journal or notebook. Some people like to have water and a snack nearby, a blanket, or items that feel grounding to them. We'll talk about creating your space during the first session.
-
Yes! What's shared in group stays in group. All participants agree to confidentiality guidelines, and sessions take place on HIPAA-compliant Google Meet. Sessions are never recorded to protect everyone's privacy.
-
The first session each month focuses on learning new somatic skills and practicing them together in a structured way. The second session creates space for processing—using the tools we've learned to work through what's present for you, with group support and Kat's guidance. Both sessions build on each other.
